Our guide to the bars and clubs
mallorca The majority of bars in Mallorca are open from mid-morning to the early hours.

At one end of the spectrum you have the small local bars, often serving light snacks, where children are usually welcome, ranging right through to the large disco bars and nightclubs.

 Bars in Mallorca

bars in mallorca From small family run bars, through to the large disco pubs, most resorts have a wide range of facilities to offer. The smaller bars usually provide music using a normal hi-fi with the choice of music geared towards the clientele they're trying to attract. Often they provide bar snacks, or a limited menu, and a large majority have the feeling of home, with pool table and dart board.
The larger bars and pubs often have an "in-house-DJ" playing popular music, with some specialising in a particular genre of music, such as R & B or "Old Skool". Often there are special "Party Nights" with games and prizes on offer.

Karaoke is still very popular in Mallorca and a lot of bars have karaoke on a regular basis.

 Clubbing in Mallorca

clubbing in mallorca Clubbing in Mallorca is extremely popular, although the neighbouring island of Ibiza is the clubbing capital.

Again the variety of music is there, and most clubs have their own resident DJ's, with special guest appearances by famous DJ's such as Judge Jules and Brandon Block, or local favourite Des Mitchell.
There are numerous special events, with "Popcorn Parties", "Foam Parties" and a variety of other fun nights.

With these there is usually a small fee but this is usually accompanied by complimentary drinks, tee-shirts and other memorabilia.

Theme nights are found throughout the island`s clubs, many having 70`s nights, R&B nights, "Old Skool" and so on.

BCM nightclub is claimed to be the biggest club in Europe.

 Live Music Pubs

live music pubs Live music is widely available throughout the island, although there are strict laws to restrict the noise level, something which applies to all criteria of music. A lot of areas insist on the use of machines, limiters, to prevent the noise from going above a particular decibel level.

A lot of the smaller bars prefer to keep to one man shows, or duets, whereas the larger venues and the hotels are able to provide larger groups, like the "Abba Tribute" many of which play live, with their own band, whilst others still prefer to work to professional backing tracks.

There are also a number of dance troupes, comedians, magicians and hypnotist acts to provide a different kind of show. For those who wish to join in, then Karaoke is still popular in many venues.

There are also still several "Dinner Show" type entertainment venues with spectacular lighting and stage effects with complete orchestral backing.
