beaches mallorca More than 15 million tourists visit Mallorca every year and it offers a large number of beach resorts with facilities to suit all age groups.

Often the beach offers various sporting facilities both on the sand and on or in the water. Most have sun longers and parasols for hire.

 Beaches in Mallorca

Along the whole coastline of Mallorca there are also rustic or secluded beaches, some quite difficult to get to, or only accessible by sea. Here you can truly appreciate the beauty of the island. These beaches are unspoiled with an atmosphere of total relaxation.

There are several recognized nudist beaches, with nudism under present legislation being legal in all areas.

Mallorca beaches are known for their high quality of hygiene with over 40 receiving the European Unions Blue Flag Award.

Bendinat Beach:

Bendinat beach is 1 km away from Portals Nousand only 9 km away from Palma. The beach is 50m wide by 20m deep and is surrounded by pine groves. Sun loungers etc. are available and there are restaurants/snacks nearby.

Bendinat golf course is only 2 mins away and Poniente golf course is 10 mins away by car.

Cala Egos Beach:

cala-egos-beach-in-mallorca Cala Egos is one of the bays that are in the Cala D' Or area and there is a road train into the resort.

The beach is 20m wide by 30m long and have regular boat trips available. Some services.

There are restaurants nearby and the Caves of Drach are quite close.

Cala Ferrera Beach:

Cala Ferrera beach is another small cove in the Cala D' Or area.

A rocky cove leads the eye out towards the sea. The beach is quite wide but not very deep.

There are restaurants and bars nearby.

Cala Fornells Beach:

cala-fornells-beach-in-mallorca Cala Fornells is 1km away from Paguera in the south west of Mallorca.

The beach is sheltered and the water usually safe for swimming.

Nearby the beaches of Caló de ses Llises and Caló des Monjo, a completely unspoilt nudist beach, are only metres away. More about Cala Fornells......

Cala Gran Beach:

Cala Gran is one of the larger beaches in Cala D' Or at 40m wide and 100m deep. There is a small bar restaurant and other services.

The water is calm and shallow, surrounde by a rocky cove. The area surrounding is more built up than the other Cala D' Or beaches.

Cala Mesquida Beach:

cala-mesquida-beach-in-mallorca The beach at Cala Mesquida about 300 metres wide and 139 metres deep, with white sand and strong waves.

The beach slopes gently into the sea and is lined with sand dunes dotted with pine trees.

There is a watch tower on the cliff overlooking the beach. More about Cala Mesquida......

Cala San Vincente Beach:

There are 3 beaches which cover the Cala San Vincente resort.

These are Cala Barques, the largest and closest to the main resort facilities, Cala Clara and when you venture around the headland you find Vala Molins.

El Toro Beach:

el-toro-beach-in-mallorca El Toro is situated on the southwest coast between Magalluf and Santa Ponsa.

The beach is about 200m wide and 50m deep, and quite stony at times, curving toward the entrance of Port Adriano yet sloping gently into the water.

Es Forti Beach:

Es Forti is one of the 7 beaches in Cala D' Or resort and the surrounding area.

Known as Caló des Pou it is one of the smallest coves in the area, framed by magnificent palm trees.

Es Trenc Beach:

es-trenc-beach-in-mallorca Es Trenc is a magnificent 3km stretch of white sand , backed by dunes, proving to be one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca. It is also one of the official nudist beaches.

The stretch of beach is very basic and peaceful, with very few amenities.

La Calobra Beach:

The beach at La Calobra has to be one of the most difficult coves to get to in Mallorca.

The long, steep, winding road which leads from the west coast mountains down to this picturesque area is like a long rollercoaster ride.

There are restaurants in the area and regular boat trips from the jetty.

Portals Vells and Playa Mago Beaches:

portals-vells-beach-in-mallorca Portals Vells is near to Magalluf, past Poniente golf course.

There are 3 beaches in the area, Sa Caleta de Portals Vells, a small, sandy beach perfect for snorkelling, Sa Platgeta de Portals Vells, 60m long and 70m wide, and El Mago beach, a small,sandy beach popular with nudists.

Sa Rapita Beach:

Sa Rapita beach starts at the Sa Rapita marina and stretches as far as Ses Covetes.

The sand is fine and white, with sun longers and parasols available. Dunes and pines trees line up behind, with a small beach bar half way along.

Son Baulo Beach:

son-baulo-beach-in-mallorca Son Baulo beach is past the marina from C'an Picafort, before you get to the nearby prehistoric burial sites.

It is a small, semi-natural beach and one of the few in the area with sand dunes. Basic amenities are available and there are restaurants nearby.

Torrent de la Pareis Beach:

The Torrent de la Pareis is a stunning beach surrounded by magnificent cliffs. Situated in the north west, the tortuous stretch of road is the same as the one to Sa Calobra.

You can walk inland and follow the dry riverbed, overpowered by giant cliffs and the background of many a movie where its stark, surreal setting has been used.

 Sports facilities on the beaches of Mallorca (Majorca)

Apart from the sailing facilities, there are several water sport facilities available at many Mallorcan resorts and beaches. Most of the larger beaches have a Water Ski School and Windsurfing facilities.
There are Scuba Diving Schools situated throughout the island, with qualified divers there to assist you whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver.

There are often a variety of small motor boats, pedalloes, jet- bikes and canoes all available for hire.

On the beach there are often Volleyball and Football nets set up for those who don't want to get wet.

For the less energetic, why not try a relaxing game of "boules".

 Eating and Drinking on the beach

The quality of restaurants and cafeteriaslining the beaches of Mallorca is superb, with a full variety of local and international dishes available.

Most dining establishments have a licence to sell alcohol, or walk along the promenade after your meal and stop off in one of the numerous bars and discotheques which line the promenades of most major beaches.

 Blue Flag Award

blue-flag-awards in mallorca The Blue Flag Award is an ecological award given to over 3000 beaches and marinas throughout Europe, New Zealand, the Caribbean and South Africa.

The Campaign is owned and run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
The Award is given based on strict criteria covering several aspects, including water quality, safety and services and environmental education and information.

The Blue Flags are awarded for one season at a time and can be withdrawn if conditions change throughout the season.

In 2005 more than 40 of the beaches in Mallorca, and several marinas, were awarded the Blue Flag.
