Cala Bona. A Guide to this North East resort in Mallorca

If you are looking for a quiet holiday away from the
hustle and bustle then Cala Bona is the place for you.
Situated on the North East coast of Mallorca this small fishing village is fast becoming a popular tourist resort for those who prefer a quiet holiday.

Built around a small, picturesque fishing port this resort boasts several hotels and complexes, most of which provide a full range of entertainment.
There are a number of bars and restaurants in the area
offering traditional Mallorcan dishes as well as the typical
"British" fare.
Nightlife is fairly quiet, although several bars now offer
Live Entertainment nightly. The nearby resort of Cala
Millor, which is within walking distance, is available if you
fancy a change and a livelier night.
For golfers there are 4 courses in the area, 3 of them 18 hole and one 9 hole.

The coastline is rocky with small bays and stretches of
sand, which the local council have made excellent efforts
to clean up in recent years.

How to get to Cala Bona in the North East of Mallorca

There are several car hire
firms which can arrange to have a car waiting for you at Son Sant Joan International airport near Palma de Mallorca, and since the motorway has been extended to Manacor the journey can be made in little over an hour.
|
Cala Bona is approximately 65km fro the Son San Juan International Airport and transfer by coach can take more than 2 hours depending on traffic and the number of drop off points the coach has to make.
Taxi ranks are outside of the airport. There is a fixed price, depending on the hour of the day, with additional costs possibly being added for the number of suitcases. Child seats are not included. For those requiring this it is advisable to pre-book.

Accommodation in Cala Bona consists mainly of 3 Star facilities, be it apartment, aparthotel or hotel.
Other types of accommodation range from small family run businesses through to 4 star accommodation, most have standard amenities including pool and air-conditioning.

In the areas around Cala Bona there are a number of rustic fincas and country houses available for holiday rental. These properties are usually to a high standard and most have swimming pools.

The local bus service is limited and although the resort is fairly quiet there are numerous attractions nearby. A day trip to Manacor can be recommended.
It is always nice to sit in one of the local cafes or restaurants around the harbour, where you can relax and watch the local fishermen at work. |

Shopping is limited in the area, mainly consisting of souvenir shops, perfume and local goods. The nearby resort of Cala Millor has a better choice and is within walking distance.
Manacor is not too far away and it is well worth hiring a car or taking one of the tours to Manacor to visit the pearl factories where you can see the pearls being made and can purchase souvenirs.
