Es Trenc Beach in the South of Mallorca
|
 |
 |
Es Trenc is in the south of Mallorca near the small village of Ses Capetes. It is one of the few beaches which are relatively untouched by tourist facilities.
The beach is 3000m long, thanks to attempts from locals and ecologists to preserve the natural state. In 1984 Es Trenc was declared a "Special Interest Natural Area".
There are bars at either end of the beach and sunbeds and umbrellas are available, although in limited numbers.
|
Es Trenc is a recognized naturist or nudist beach. Most people tend towards the middle of the beach for this purpose. To walk from one end of the beach to the other takes about half an hour but the long stretches of white sand make it well worth the effort.
Access can be difficult. The roads are not particularly well sign-posted, and the main car park charges a fee and is limited, so it is advisable to arrive early.
Hotels nearby offer a ferry service direct to the beach, or you can arrive on foot, with a walk of about half an hour to reach either east or west.
Behind the beach is the salt lagoon of Es Salobrar and a 500m of sand dunes, one of the few areas where sand dunes can be found in Mallorca. |

How to get to Es Trenc, in the south of Mallorca
|
Es Trenc is not easy to get to and the signposts are not particularly good. Unless you are staying nearby and can take a taxi you will need to hire a car. This can be arranged for you to pick up at the airport.
From the airport follow the signs for Llucmajor/Campos del Puerto. Take the turning for Colonia de Sant Jordi until the crossroads and continue until you see a sign for Es Trenc on the left. Continue on this narrow road and foolow the signs until you reach the car park at the east end of the beach.
There is an alternative route via Ses Covetes, just along from Sa Rapita.
The route is sign posted, but not very well, the signs being quite small. This way you can get to the west end of the beach.
Another alternative is offered by some hotels in the area. They provide a ferry service which drops you off at the beach early morning and pick you up later in the day. |

One of the routes to Es Trenc is via the village of Sa Rapita.
This is a small village but rapidly expanding with a lot of new apartments being built.
The marina is picturesque with an excellent restaurant and bar. You can use these facilities, or one of the small beach hut bars further along. Behind the beach you are given shelter from the sand dunes and trees which provide a natural wind break. |
