The medical care in Mallorca is of the highest standard, whether you are using the National Health Service or Private Medical care.
Formerly British citizens were covered for medical treatment under the E111 form, which has now been replaced by the European Health Insurance Card, or EHIC. This allows you medical treatment at reduced cost, or free in some cases, in a country which is a member of the EEC.

The EHIC is available from most post offices and medical centres in the UK and must be completed before you embark on your holiday.
It is always recommended that you take out private travel insurance when travelling abroad, which normally costs just a few pounds. Private clinics in Mallorca normally have English speaking staff available, whereas National Health facilities may have only one or two members of staff available to translate for you. Try to avoid those companies where you have to pay for the treatment and claim it back as costs can run quite high, an additional expense you can well do without in an emergency situation.

There are a large variety of professional specialists in Mallorca including Dermatology, Osteopathy, Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Urology. Many doctors work for the National Health Service as well as having thriving private practices.
There are numerous dentists around Mallorca and prices seem to be cheaper than private dental treatment in the UK. Several dentists on the island have private insurance schemes and theses are well worth checking out.
There are usually British dentists in most resorts. If not, a great many dentists in Mallorca speak English.
Basic dental treatment can be carried out as well as cosmetic work including crowns, implants, bridges, inlays and veneers.
