All inclusive hotels are becoming increasingly popular, especially in the North of the island. This is particularly useful if you have small children and a limited budget, as food and drink are already paid for. Some amenities are free, although there may be charges made for certain rides etc.
Entertainment is usually provided by the hotel staff, with mini-disco and children's club for the children, arranged sports tournaments and professional acts several times a week. |
An increasing number of hotels are now offering internet access.
If you choose to holiday in Mallorca using this type of hotel you should be prepared for long queues and crowded main areas as the hotels
are working from a strict budget and tend to be filled to capacity. There are a limited amount of sun-loungers available and the drinks served in the bar areas
are usually of the local variety. The chance of imported beers and drinks are limited.

Self catering in Mallorca (Majorca)

Self-Catering is another option. There are numerous Aparthotels, Apartments and Hostals available in Majorca, enabling you to enjoy the large variety of local bars and restaurants nearby and giving you total flexibility with your holiday.
Apartments usually have a kitchenette, with basic cooking facilities, cutlery and crockery available, as well as a fully fitted bathroom. |
Any other requirements such as hair dryers and kettles can be hired locally, either directly from the hotel or from local companies.
Games and sports facilities are often available and entertainment is provided most nights.
A large number of holiday complexes also have a supermarket in the grounds selling basic foodstuff and toiletries.
In addition, most resorts have several supermarkets which now stock British brand foodstuffs, including bread and tea-bags!
The prices are usually quite high compared to prices back home, the general attitude being that if you want it you have to pay the price, although
the fact that these products have to be imported should be taken into consideration.

The majority of accommodation in Mallorca resorts is with 2/3 Star Hotel complexes.
Over recent years a large number of these have re-furbished to more modern standards and most hotels now have air-conditioning/central heating in the rooms as well as a direct dial telephone and either local or satellite television.

The rooms normally have twin beds, with wardrobe and dressing table and the majority of the rooms have a balcony or terrace.
Bathrooms usually have both shower and bath and provide towels. The rooms are cleaned regularly and fresh linen is provided.
Safety deposit boxes are normally available for hire and fridges/mini-bars are often available.
In the reception area there are often money exchange facilities, information on excursions, newspapers for sale and a room to store luggage if you have a delay between check-out time and
coach departure.
Numerous sports facilities are available both on-site and nearby and a full entertainment programme is offered.
Most hotels in Mallorca have more than one bar area plus restaurant and snack bar facilities. |
