Illetas Guide, resort near Palma, Mallorca
|
 |
Illetas is a quiet resort overlooking Palma Bay.
There are two beaches in the area, the Platja d'Illetas and the tiny Platja Cala Comptessa.
Facilities are basic, with parasols and sunbeds available at the main beach.
|
Snack bars are situated at the larger of the two beaches.
A lot of the hotels are situated on the edge of the sea and have there own private beaches which are for client use only.
The area is mainly Spanish residential and therefore relatively undiscovered by tourists and tour operators. It is also popular at weekends with people visiting from Palma which is close by.
The resort is aimed towards the upper bracket of tourism and mainly consists of 4 and 5 star accommodation. The night life is distinctly different from the regular package tour resorts, mainly consisting of small, exclusive bars and restaurants.

|
A word of warning to those intending to drive themselves to the resort, there is very little parking available and the one way system can cause problems. If you drive past your destination you have to travel all the way around the system and start again, there is no turning around!
There is a car park situated quite a distance from the beaches and amenities but access is difficult for anyone with walking difficulties as access is down several steep steps. There is a regular bus service and this may be a preferred method of travel if you wish to visit the resort.
Despite these difficulties Illetas is one of the prettiest resorts in the area and if you are looking for something special and a little bit different then it is definitely worth a visit.
