A guide to the Ports and Resorts of Mallorca
|
 |
More than 15 million tourists visit Mallorca every year and it offers a
large number of beach resorts with
facilities to suit all age groups.
The resorts at the south end of the island, like Magalluf and Arenal,
cater more for people who want a lively
holiday, with sun loungers and showers available, often offering
various sporting facilities both on the beach
and on or in the water.
|
Along the whole coastline of Mallorca there are also rustic or secluded beaches, some quite difficult to get to, or only accessible by sea. Here you can truly appreciate the beauty of the island. These beaches are unspoiled with an atmosphere of total relaxation.
There are several recognized nudist beaches, with nudism under present
legislation being legal in all areas.
Mallorca beaches are known for their high quality of hygiene with over
40 receiving the
European Unions Blue
Flag Award.

Apart from the two main ports in the Bay of Palma, the Club Nautico and
the Club de Mar, there are several
smaller ports.
If you are looking for a celebrity lifestyle then head for Puerta
Portals, where many celebrities have their boats
moored, or can be seen sipping cocktails in one of the many bars and
restaurants. Designer shops complete
the picture. The Port of Andraitx offers similar facilities but with a
more laid back atmosphere.
|
There are still several small ports which retain some of the original
Mallorcan atmosphere, with Portixol being
only minutes from the airport and still relatively unspoiled.
Most ports have a variety of businesses surrounding them offering all
yachting services, for those who are
interested in chartering a yacht whilst on holiday, or are even looking
to buy one.

Apart from the sailing facilities, there are several water sport
facilities available at many Mallorcan resorts.
Most of the larger beaches have a Water Ski School and Windsurfing
facilities. There are Scuba Diving Schools
situated throughout the island, with qualified divers there to assist
you whether you are a beginner or an
experienced diver.
There are often a variety of small motor boats, pedalloes, jet- bikes
and canoes all available for hire.
On the beach there are often Volleyball and Football nets set up for
those who don't want to get wet.
For the less energetic, why not try a relaxing game of "boules". |

The quality of restaurants and cafeterias in Mallorca is superb, with a
full variety of local and international
dishes available.
Most dining establishments have a licence to sell alcohol, or walk
along the promenade after your meal and
stop off in one of the numerous bars and discotheques which line the
streets of most major resorts. |
